Banking
A bank machine/ATM is in the main lobby behind the information desk next to the vending machines. 

Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is run by our dedicated volunteer team and is in the main lobby of the hospital. It offers a wide range of gifts, personal toiletry products, cards, magazines, snacks and other items with all proceeds going to support the purchase of new equipment at the hospital. 

Other vendors are occasionally onsite with a wide selection of goods: jewellery, fashion items and beauty products and speciality foods. They are generally located outside the cafeteria on the lower level. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, please contact us
 
Newspaper and books
Local and national newspaper boxes can be found just inside the main entrance doors as you enter the hospital.

There are three lending libraries containing previously read books available. For a small donation to support hospital services and programs, you are welcome to select any book you like.

The libraries are located:
  • Main lobby – beside the Coffee Bar (Café)
  • Lower level – outside Health Records
  • Lower level – outside E-Wing
Phones and photography 
A telephone is located beside most beds for a small fee for outgoing calls. Patients are also responsible for the cost of long-distance charges. The service is available upon request through Switchboard by dialling 0. 
 
Pay phones are located in the Day Surgery hallway (just past our main elevators), and on the lower level outside the entrance to Obstetrics and D-Wing. 
 
Visitors can safely use mobile devices in public areas of the hospital such as waiting areas, cafeteria, lobbies and most patient rooms. Use may be prohibited in Labour and Delivery, Diagnostic Imaging, Critical Care Unit and all treatment areas of Emergency. We kindly ask that you turn off devices before you enter these areas. 

HHCC strives to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all patients, visitors, staff and volunteers. No photography, video or voice recording is permitted on the hospital campus without the express permission of anyone who would be involved in it.  

Charging stations are available for you to charge your electronic devices. There are cables for most types of mobile devices that you can use while you wait. They are in: 
 
  • The main lobby  
  • Emergency Department waiting room 
  • Ambulatory Care waiting room to the left of the registration desk 
Televisions 
Public televisions are located, free of charge, in the cafeteria, in the Emergency Department, Day Surgery Waiting Room and Diagnostic Imaging waiting rooms.

The Hub (Integrated Beside Terminal) 
More than just a television or a source of entertainment, our integrated bedside terminals – named The Headwaters Hub (or The Hub for short), have benefits for patients, families and staff.  The Hub is part of our commitment to online integration of shared tools, replaces the older model televisions and includes:
 
  • Access to basic hospital information and wayfinding  
  • Access to daily plans   
  • Access to patient charts 
  • Access to additional health educational information  
  • Ability to send comments or feedback to the hospital or to a specific member of the care team 
  • Ability to complete a patient experience survey online at any time during a hospital stay
The cost to rent The Hub (which includes television, audiobooks, internet radio, internet use and game selections) is:
 
  • Daily rental - $17.25 (includes tax)
  • 4-day rental - $46.00 (includes tax)
Wireless Internet (WiFi)
WiFi is available free of charge throughout the hospital. When choosing a network, select HW_GUEST. A password is not required.

Please remember - no network communication should be considered private or protected. All communication over the HHCC network is subject to monitoring. HHCC reserves the right to access as needed.

Your access to WiFi is completely at the discretion of HHCC, and your access may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time for any reason.

WiFi may not be uninterrupted and service will be attended to the best of our ability.

A portion of ATM transaction fees, book donations, Gift Shop proceeds and vendor table rentals are directed to supporting the purchase of new equipment at the hospital.
