Update #2: Suspicious Email Activity at Headwaters Health Care Centre

Yesterday, Headwaters Health Care Centre’s information technology (IT) system noticed suspicious email activity and took immediate preventative action by shutting down the internal system as well as access to the internet, and key external partners.

We have since determined that our system has been subjected to unauthorized access. We are working with cybersecurity experts who will help us safely restore our IT services and investigate what happened and whether any sensitive data was exposed. This process will take some time. We are committed to being transparent and will notify individuals if we learn that personal information has been exposed.

Although many of our systems are down, we have robust processes in place to maintain safe patient care. Please be patient if you experience a delay when visiting our hospital.

Scheduled surgeries or procedures have not been impacted at this time. Our Emergency Department is open 24/7.

Our COVID-19 Assessment Centre remains closed at this time. For alternative testing locations in Peel Region visit: https://www.peelregion.ca/coronavirus/testing/#locations. For alternative testing locations in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph visit: https://wdgpublichealth.ca/your-health/covid-19-information-public/getting-tested-covid-19.

We continue to ensure our hospital remains a safe place to work and receive care.

Thank you.
