Media release: Headwaters Health Care Centre and Foundation unveils new CT experience

Orangeville, ON (December 8, 2023) – Thanks to the generosity of our community, Headwaters Health Care Centre welcomes a new replacement computed tomography (CT) machine. On average each day, Headwaters images 20 CT outpatients. The new replacement CT will enable Headwaters to provide greater appointment availability and an improved patient experience.

As the first hospital in Canada to implement the GE HealthCare Revolution Ascend CT, the arrival of this innovative equipment demonstrates Headwaters’ strategic direction, Getting even better and Continuously improving our facility and driving operational excellence, in order to provide better care for patients in our community. Features of the CT machine, the GE HealthCare Revolution Ascend CT system, will truly enhance the patient experience by:
  • A streamlined process through artificial intelligence technology to assist with patient comfort settings, image review and analysis
  • Fast scan times
  • Greater patient accommodation and comfort on spacious gantry and large, 75 cm wide-bore CT system
  • Prioritized patient safety with low-dose capabilities while maintaining high-quality imaging.
In addition, Diagnostic Imaging teams will experience improved workflow efficiencies and leverage technologies that will assist in making confident diagnoses and provide optimal patient care. 

The arrival of the new replacement CT machine would not be possible without the community commitment through Headwaters Health Care Foundation’s Smart Headwaters campaign. Smart Headwaters is a significant milestone for the hospital. It is a truly transformational campaign for Headwaters, encompassing not only this CT machine, but a new dialysis suite, a state-of-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine in 2024, and a variety of other high priority equipment needs.
