COVID-19 Outbreak on E-Wing at Headwaters Health Care Centre

On November 22, 2023, Headwaters Health Care Centre and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) declared a COVID-19 respiratory outbreak on E-Wing.

An outbreak has been declared due to positive COVID-19 cases among patients on E-Wing. Currently, there are no COVID-19 positive cases among staff or physicians associated with the outbreak.

Contact tracing and investigations have been completed by Headwaters Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control and WDGPH teams on the outbreak unit. The earliest Headwaters can be declared out of outbreak status is November 29, provided there are no additional cases related to this outbreak. At that time, an “outbreak declared over” notice will be provided.

Headwaters Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care services, other inpatient units, and scheduled surgeries are not impacted.

Additional infection prevention and control precautions measures in place until further notice:
  • Masks are mandatory for E-Wing visitors: Visitors must wear masks when entering the unit. Visitors are asked to refrain from eating/drinking while on the unit, always remaining masked. Hospital-issued masks will be available outside of the unit. The visitor policy for the rest of the hospital remains unchanged.
  • Only visit one patient at a time: Visitors are required to remain within the patient's room for the duration of their stay. Maximum two visitors per patient.

Headwaters is committed to providing timely information as we navigate the outbreak. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
