A Message from Kim Delahunt, President & CEO

On behalf of Headwaters Health Care Centre, we want to thank our community for the extraordinary efforts as we approach our second full year of this pandemic. It has been so difficult for everyone and we want to acknowledge each and every one of you.

We are facing our largest challenge yet. In a relatively short period of time, the Omicron variant has infected tens of thousands of Ontarians and will continue spreading rapidly in the upcoming weeks.  Hospitals across the Province have seen an increase in the number of patients presenting to emergency departments and requiring hospitalization. This is also the case at Headwaters. We have also seen our team affected with many of our health care providers off sick or currently in isolation.

Many of our health care workers are working longer or are taking additional shifts when they can. They are also working in other departments, to fill critical needs, when there are shortages. Our teams are living our values of kindness, passion, courage and teamwork each and every day. There is no doubt this is one of the most challenging times we will ever face.

In terms of our programs and services, we have adhered to the province’s directive to scale back scheduled care, including non-urgent surgeries, diagnostic testing and clinic activity to be able to redeploy our staff to maintain urgent and emergent services. To find out what is currently open and closed, please visit our COVID-19 pages on our website.

For those who have been waiting for care, we are deeply sorry and will do our best to resume these services as soon as we can.

Please be kind. Everyone is exhausted and frustrated. Health care workers, first responders and many other essential service providers are doing their best during these extraordinary times. We are incredibly grateful to serve our surrounding communities and know that we will get through this together.

As a community member, please continue to do your part in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Please get vaccinated, including the third vaccine dose as soon as you are able. Three doses of vaccine is very effective in reducing COVID spread and almost eliminates serious complications of COVID infection. Please continue to follow all other public health measures like wearing an appropriate mask and physical distancing.

Thank you for your understanding as we all do our best during these extraordinary times.

Please take care of yourselves and one another.
