  • Coleen's Story

    Coleen graduated from Humber College in 1982 and was hired at Dufferin Area Hospital shortly thereafter.

    Over the years Coleen has worked on the Surgical, Medical, Pediatrics, and Continuing Care Units until finally calling E-Wing home.

  • Bev's Story

    Bev became a part of the Headwaters family in June 1994 as a part-time Registered Practical Nurse at the Shelburne District Hospital.

    Early in her career Bev became very fond of a patient who eventually passed away in her care. This experience left a lasting impression on her and shaped her career as a nurse. To this day, 21 years later, she can tell you the patient’s name, diagnosis, children’s names and the patient’s room number. Bev continues to genuinely connect with each of her patients.

  • Linda's Story

    As a child Linda was always helping others and she knew from an early age that nursing was the career path for her.

    Linda went to McEachern Training Centre where she obtained a Diploma in Nursing in 1988.

    After graduating, she began working at the Shelburne District Hospital in 1989 as a Registered Practical Nurse. Linda has been part of the HHCC family for 31 years; working on E-Wing, Day Surgery and occasionally on D-Wing and F-Wing.

  • Turning a stressful situation into a beautiful, heartwarming experience

    When Kaitlyn’s seven-month-old son Rhett suffered from a persistent fever she feared for the worst.


    She made an appointment with her family doctor who recommended that she get a viral swab done as well as a COVID-19 test.

  • Charlene's Story

    Graduating from Mohawk College in 1989 as a Medical Radiological Technologist, Charlene wanted to be part of helping people in need along their care journey. When a part-time technologist opportunity became available at HHCC she jumped at the chance and has never looked back. This October marks her 30th anniversary with us.

    The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared 2020 is a Year of Recognition of Nurses and Midwives. To celebrate, each month we will be highlighting nurses and midwives in Dufferin-Caledon and the amazing work they do.

  • Paul's Story

    Paul grew up in Orangeville and by Grade 13 he knew he wanted to attend school to become a Paramedic (back then it was referred to as Ambulance). At the time, his older sister was in Nursing and his mother worked in Switchboard at the Dufferin Area Hospital. Although he was accepted into University of Guelph for both their Veterinary and Respiratory Therapy Programs, he chose to become a Paramedic because he had always felt connected to the hospital and thought that it would be an exciting career.

  • Cara's Story

    When Ontario shutdown in late March due to COVID-19, Cara thought the hospital might be in need of additional support and resources. With a background in graphic design and photography, Cara reached out to see if she could help the hospitals Communications and Stakeholder Relations Department.

  • Donna-Lynn's Story

    Donna-Lynn was born in Mississauga and moved to Orangeville when she was four years old. Attending high school at Orangeville District Secondary School, Donna-Lynn was looking for a part-time job. At this time, she had two family members that also worked at the hospital and learned about an opportunity to work part-time in Housekeeping.
