  • Sherry's Story

Sherry completed her Diploma in Nursing from Georgian College in 1990 with her final pre-graduation placement here at Headwaters. On her last shift in our Emergency Department, she was asked if she would like a job on the Obstetrics Unit.

  • Alex's Story

During this pandemic infection prevention and control has undergone significant changes to protect patients, families, caregivers, staff and physicians.

With combined threats of health care associated infections and COVID-19 we have had to implement stricter measures that follow the Public Health Agency of Canada’s evidence-based guidelines.

  • Danielle's Story

After graduating from the Paramedicine Program from Centennial College, Danielle did a placement as a paramedic student with the Dufferin County Paramedic Service where she developed an interest in working with the hospital.

Danielle has been part of the HHCC Family for 11 years, starting in Environmental Services, moving to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department and now in Stores.

  • Sara's Story

In the beginning of the pandemic our Finance team was provided with a work from home option. Much of our work was possible from remote locations and I am really grateful to have had that option available to me.

  • Dhruv and Gregory's Story

Headwaters Health Care Centre was the hospital of choice for Dhruv and Gregory, Doctor of Pharmacy Students from the University of Toronto. Both are currently completing a rotation in our Pharmacy Department as part of their program.

  • John's Story

I started my chaplaincy when this hospital moved to Rolling Hills Drive as part of my theological study requirement. I found that even now, as I go in to visit with patients with some trepidation, I come out refreshed and enriched by my visit with them.

  • Cathy's Story

Never did I think I would live through, let alone care for patients, through a pandemic.

In the beginning, COVID-19 presented a steep learning curve for all of us. We knew very little and were suddenly overwhelmed with information; guidance and policies were changing constantly. The media was relentless and at times added to the confusion.

  • Karen's Story

I have been a Geriatric Nurse in the Emergency Department at Headwaters for the past 12 years. I help older adults live at home longer, prevent any unnecessary visits/admissions to the hospital and reduce prolonged stays.

  • Ashley, Patient Family Advisor

Ashley joined our Patient Family Advisory Partnership in November 2018 following her mother’s admission to D-Wing.

While visiting her mom in the family lounge, a few staff members approached her about a hospital renovation project in the space and asked her thoughts on the work underway. Later, one of those staff members returned and asked if she would be interested in joining the Patient Family Advisory Partnership.

  • Valerie & Adeline's Story

When Valerie’s newborn daughter, Adeline, was admitted to our hospital at only two days old the entire family was overwhelmed and panicked.
