ORANGEVILLE, ON (October 8, 2024) – As of today, eligible women, Two-Spirit, trans, and nonbinary people in Ontario aged 40 to 49 can now be screened for breast cancer without a physician referral.
Janis is a 67-year-old retired high school teacher and librarian whose days consist of maintaining a 40-acre farm, splitting wood on her forest lot, raising 25 cattle, and carrying out endless chores alongside her devoted husband, Doug.
“We have to remember, we were all students at one time, and if we don’t support them, we aren’t going to have anyone to take over for us down the road,” said Lois.
Having worked at our hospital for 32 years, Dr. Paul Scotton, Chief of Emergency Medicine, has shared in many of the more difficult times in our history. This pandemic was certainly a challenge unlike any other he had experienced in his career.
