Rhonda's Story

Growing up in Nova Scotia, Rhonda is proud to call Cape Breton home and quick to share stories about the community and culture in the Maritimes with anyone eager to listen.

Rhonda graduated from the School of Nursing at St. Martha’s Hospital in 1994. She also graduated with her Critical Care Nursing from the QE II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. 

Rhonda held several nursing positions in Nova Scotia before moving to Ontario and settling into a full- time role at Headwaters.

In 2000, Rhonda joined our team as a Registered Nurse on F-Wing and the ICU and loved the small-town community feel at our hospital.

In 2021, Rhonda assumed the position she holds today as a Clinical Resource Nurse. In this role she helps new hires and students with training and support.

“I feel like the whole hospital is my team and I love it! I am the ‘fixer’ and ‘the finder of things’,” said Rhonda about her role at Headwaters.

When asked what experience has impacted her the most during the 22-years she has devoted to our hospital she couldn’t pick just one. All the interactions with staff and patients have left an impression and for Rhonda, just being able to help others has been the best experience.

“Most of the staff that I met when I started my career here have since retired and I hold their memories dear. They not only welcomed me into the Headwaters family with open arms they also helped me to become the nurse I am today. Now I have the privilege of teaching the next generation of nurses,” shared Rhonda.
