Jodie's Story
Meet Jodie, Advanced Care Paramedic.
Jodie has been part of the Dufferin County Paramedic Service for five years, working out of the Orangeville Base.
“I really like the team environment. With a smaller hospital we can better connect more with our co-workers and work cohesively. It allows for more seamless transitions in care and overall better experiences for our patients,” said Jodie.
After completing her Primary Care Paramedic Diploma from Georgian College and her Advanced Care Paramedic Certificate from Durham college, Jodie began her journey with us; always knowing she wanted to work on the frontlines helping others.
“I think the best part of being a paramedic and working in prehospital medicine is seeing how much of an affect your treatments and decisions can have on patients. Something as simple as being able to lift an elderly patient off the floor can result in them continuing to live independently in their own home and changes their entire day,” continued Jodie.
In her role as an Advanced Care Paramedic Jodie responds to a variety of 911 calls, from car accidents and cardiac arrests to lift assists and wellness checks.
When asked what experience stands out for her during her time with us, Jodie shared, “Recently, we had a critical patient with a severe allergic reaction. We were able to witness our critical thinking and medical treatments drastically reverse the life-threatening symptoms the patient was experiencing. Having the patient begin speaking as we arrived at the hospital solidified how important our line of work is,” shared Jodie.
When Jodie is not at work she enjoys being around friends and family.
Thank you, Jodie, for all that you do!
