The evening of July 11, 2019 was like any other for Shelburne resident Borys. He had been doing some work around the house and on his car, nothing out of the ordinary. Around 9:00 pm he was winding down for the evening and was having some indigestion, so he went downstairs to the kitchen, got a glass of milk and sat down in his chair to watch TV. His wife, Janet was in the next room. Without warning, Borys collapsed. What follows is a phenomenal story of first responders and how their everyday work changed the life of Borys and his family.

Tom, Chief of Dufferin County Paramedic Services has been a part of the Headwaters team for 35 years!
 
Tom was born and raised in Dufferin County and refers to himself as a “home town boy”. Growing up he was influenced by his Grandad Hugh, who in 1968 became the areas first full-time Paramedic. This was when the province first brought in provincial ambulances and at the time they were called Ambulance Drivers.

Our volunteers at HHCC are instrumental in our daily operations and make a huge difference in the lives of our patients, families, caregivers, and our staff. Truly inspiring, our youth volunteers often dedicate their time while balancing school and part-time jobs. We encourage you to recognize the hard work they do, and how important they are to our team.

We celebrate Dr. Cormier, who has been a Family Physician at HHCC for 35 years.

Dr. Cormier grew up in St. John, New Brunswick where his father was a Dentist. In high school he began to consider following that same career path. However, his father expressed to him that, "If you don’t like being a Dentist, you are always stuck looking at people’s mouths." There are so many more avenues within medicine which influenced Dr. Cormier to pursue a career as a Family Physician.
