About
Our Auxiliary
The
Auxiliary operates much the same way as any efficient organization. It has
a Board of Elected Officers. The members of the Board are volunteers,
willing to share their experience and committed to work many hours for the
benefit of the hospital and its patients. They are elected to office, hold
monthly meetings and an annual meeting to review the past year and set the
course of action for the future.
The
Headwaters Health Care Auxiliary is responsible for recruiting,
interviewing, screening, orientation, placement, and recognition of
volunteers. Every effort is made to assign volunteers in positions
reflecting their interests and needs as well as the needs of Headwaters
Health Care Centre as a whole. We have volunteer positions during
weekdays, evenings and weekends.
The
Auxiliary is an integral part of the hospital. Our members help to
organize fundraising events and work in areas such as our Gift Shop and
Coffee Bar. Funds from all our fundraising activities are used to purchase
medical equipment for our hospital.

Student Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering can also help
students develop interpersonal skills with people of all ages and cultural
backgrounds. Volunteering will encourage students to become actively
involved in making positive contributions to their community. It is
designed to promote good citizenship and help make students aware of the
role they can play in their community.
High School students (minimum 16 years old) wanting to earn their required 40 hours of volunteer work,
one of the Ministry of Education requirements for their high school
diploma, can participate in hospital special events: including the House Tour
in September, Candy Cane Fair in November and the Teddy Bear Clinic
in May. High School students wishing to volunteer for a hospital
Auxiliary event may call the
Auxiliary office (519) 941-2410 ext. 2268 for more information.
Post Secondary Students (minimum 18 years old) seeking volunteer experience should
call the
Auxiliary office (519) 941-2410 ext. 2268,
outlining their educational experience and the department where they
would like to volunteer.
