for physicians locating in Dufferin-Caledon is readily available through a
modern, technologically advanced hospital, a collegial and mentoring
medical community and a new family practice clinic.
The
medical community associated with Headwaters Health Care Centre includes:
26 Family Physicians; 15 Emergency Medicine practitioners; 6 Internists, 1
Paediatrician, 3 Obstetricians; 5 General Surgeons; 6 Anesthetists; 3
Radiologists; 1 Ophthalmologist; and visiting consulting specialists
providing services in endocrinology, neurology, nephrology,
orthopaedics, and urology.

physicians currently cover the anaesthetic needs of the hospital.

Diagnostic
Radiology
Three
full-time radiologists currently provide Diagnostic Imaging services at
Headwaters. The services include a broad range of imaging services in a
fully digitalized Diagnostic Imaging Department including a CT Scanner,
ultrasound, x-ray and bone densitometry. Mammography and nuclear medicine
are available in the community at clinics. Our Picture Archiving and
Communications System (PACS) allows for any referring physician or
tertiary care hospitals to access all images we generate via a web server
with authorized access.

Emergency
Services
The
Emergency Department manages 35,000 visits annually. There are 15
physicians working in Emergency, three of which are full-time and the
remaining nine are part-time including five family physicians in the
community. Remuneration is from an Alternative Payment Program.

General
Surgery
There
are currently four active general surgeons on staff who provide a wide
variety of surgical care. Practice includes endoscopy and laparoscopy, with some support for
more advanced laparoscopic procedures.

Internal
Medicine
There
are six internists who provide care in all subspecialties including
24-hour emergency coverage. They are supported by visiting
nephrologists, an endocrinologist and infectious disease specialists on a regular basis.

Obstetrics/Gynaecology
There
are three obstetricians/gynaecologists who provide primary and secondary
obstetrical care. The Maternal Child unit has seven LDRP suites.
Orangeville has 800 deliveries per year. Approximately 45 family
physicians refer to Headwaters with three general practitioners still
participating in obstetrics deliveries.

Paediatrics
There
is one paediatrician in the community providing secondary care including
emergency calls, neonatal assessments and resuscitation for caesarean
section deliveries. He has a particular interest in oncology and
participates in the care of paediatric cancer patients.

Psychiatrist
Headwaters Health Care Centre is recruiting for a consultative
psychiatrist to work in a multidiscipline setting with the local Family
Health Team and community mental health clinic. Opportunity to provide
consults at Headwaters Health Care Centre and liase with the regional
psychiatry program at William Osler Health System in Brampton.
