Spiritual & Religious Care
Members
of the Pastoral Care team are available to provide a listening and
supportive presence. The purpose is to help patients and their families
identify and connect with sources of hope, strength and inspiration.
Pastoral Care is available to those who experience the stress that
come with illness or injury and is offered 24 hours a day at times of
death, trauma or other crises.
Patient
Centred
Headwaters
Health Care Centre affirms the right of all patients to care that
considers their physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs.
The
Pastoral Care Program of Headwaters Health Care Centre renders spiritual
care to the patients, families and staff, by way of spiritual assessment,
visits, consultation, counselling, pastoral crisis intervention and
arranging provision for religious needs. Volunteer
Lay Chaplains are trained to help sort through questions that arise with
illness. They respect each person’s faith and spirituality and make
every effort to accommodate various religious needs.
The
Pastoral Care Program works to facilitate the partnership between
Headwaters Health Care Centre and the faith communities, of its catchment
area, in meeting the diverse spiritual needs of patients, families, staff
and volunteers. Patients and their
families have a fundamental right to considerate care that safeguards
their personal dignity and respects their cultural, psychosocial, and
spiritual values. Referrals
to Community Clergy will be made at the request and/or agreement of the
patient or family.
