Palliative
Care
Headwaters
Health Care Centre has launched a Palliative Care Program to enhance the
quality of care for palliative patients and their families.
Palliative
care is a special kind of health care for individuals and families who are
living with a life-threatening illness, at an advanced stage. The
goal of Headwaters’ Palliative Care Program is to provide the best
quality of life for our l patients by ensuring
their comfort and dignity.
At
Headwaters we focus on care and compassion and provide a supportive team
approach to include patient and family. Managing pain and other
distressing symptoms is our top priority.
Headwaters'
Palliative Care Team is an interdisciplinary team that involves your
doctor and the nursing team who have special training in Palliative Care.
Other members of the team may include Clinical
Pharmacist, Dietitian, Discharge Planner, Physiotherapist, Respiratory
Therapist, Palliative Home Care Coordinator, Hospice Volunteers and
Chaplain services.
There
are now three private palliative care suites at the Orangeville site and one
suite at the Shelburne site. These individually decorated rooms provide a
comfortable, home-like environment for patients and their families.
