Lens Options Available for Cataract Surgery

Before your cataract surgery is booked, you will receive information about the different lens implant options appropriate for your clinical circumstance.

Cataract surgery, funded as part of the provincial Wait Time Strategy, includes the insertion of a standard lens. The cost of the standard lens is fully covered by OHIP. There is also a premium lens available. If you elect to have the premium lens, you will be responsible for paying the difference in the cost between the standard lens and the premium lens to the hospital. A small administration fee will also apply. The premium lens currently available at Headwaters Health Care Centre is the SofPort AO Lens with Violet Shield Technology.
