Occupational
Therapy
Headwaters' occupational
therapists assess the function and adaptive behaviour of patients, and provide treatment and prevention measures
for disorders which affect function in the areas of self-care,
productivity and leisure.
Occupational
Therapy assessment and treatment helps to promote, develop and maintain
function and independence in daily living.
Adult patients with impaired
functioning due to physical injury or illness such as stroke or
osteoarthritis can benefit from Occupational Therapy.
Interventions are directed toward physical function, sensory
retraining, activities of daily living, perceptual/cognitive functions,
vocational adjustment, emotional adjustment, splinting and equipment
prescription (wheelchairs, assistive devices).
Outpatient Occupational Therapy services are available for splinting
only. A physician referral is required. |
