Headwaters Elects New Board Members At AGM

Orangeville, ON, June 18, 2010 – At the Hospital’s Annual General Meeting guest speaker Tom Closson, President of the Ontario Hospital Association, presented on the financial and quality issues that will influence the future of hospitals.

“We know that all hospitals will be challenged over the next few years but we are excited about the opportunity to continue to improve the quality of care we provide to patients,” says Cholly Boland, President and CEO of Headwaters Health Care Centre.

The Board elected Louise Kindree of Caledon as Chair, Peter Harris of Caledon as Vice-Chair, and Angella Hughes of Rosemont as Treasurer. Corporate members Bill Waite, a resident of Shelburne who works in the Aerospace and Defense industry and Rob Hamilton, retired from the automotive industry who lives in Orangeville, were elected as new members of the board for a three-year term.

“Our community is a great supporter of our hospital and we appreciate the opportunity to share our successes at our Annual General Meeting,” says Boland.

The Medical Advisory Committee and Board of Directors announced Dr. Ken Derksen as Headwaters’ new Chief of Staff beginning July 1, 2010. Dr. Derksen is a family physician in Orangeville and has worked at Headwaters Health Care Centre for 17 years. The Dr. David Scott Award was presented to Dr. Dan Mallin in recognition for his work in enhancing health care services in Grand Valley, his role in developing the Dufferin Area Family Health Team, and his ongoing leadership in training medical students and residents.


The next board meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:15pm in the boardroom at Headwaters Health Care Centre.
