Headwaters Health Care Centre Awarded Accreditation

Orangeville, ON, January 7, 2010 – Headwaters Health Care Centre has received the highest level of accreditation from Accreditation Canada.

“This award demonstrates our commitment in providing quality care and service and is the result of ongoing
hard work across the organization. I would like to congratulate our staff, physicians and volunteers on their achievements and look forward to continuing to work to provide high quality, safe patient care,” said Cholly Boland, President and CEO, Headwaters Health Care Centre.

In April 2009, surveyors came to Headwaters to assess the hospital and its various programs in Orangeville and Shelburne. The surveyors followed a patient’s path of care through emergency, surgery, and inpatient treatment. The results are based on a thorough analysis of the hospital’s services, standards and patient safety initiatives, which are compared to national standards. Accreditation granted in 2009 is valid until 2012 when the Hospital’s services will be re-examined.

Headwaters Health Care Centre is one of thousands of health services organizations across the country reviewed by Accreditation Canada to help improve the quality of care and service provided to patients. Headwaters’ has been participating in the accreditation process since 1995.

Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit independent organization. It provides national and international health care organizations with a voluntary, external peer review to assess the quality of their services based on standards of excellence. There are four possible options: Full Accreditation, Accreditation with Report, Accreditation with a Focused Visit and Non Accreditation.
