Headwaters Health Care Centre Committed
 to Quality Patient Care

Orangeville, ON, April 6, 2010 – At the March Board of Directors meeting for Headwaters Health Care Centre guest speaker Cathy Hecimovich, CEO of Central West Community Care Access presented an overview of the CCAC’s continuum of care for Dufferin-Caledon residents. Headwaters' has worked closely with the CCAC over the past year resulting in an onsite CCAC Nursing Clinic at Headwaters Orangeville site. The IV and Wound Nursing Clinic gives clients a timely alternative to receiving antibiotics or dressing changes in home or the Emergency Department. CCAC has also assigned a Case Manager based out of Headwaters’ Emergency Department to help transition patients back into the community. This partnership has reduced visits to the Emergency Department and resulted in savings for both Headwaters and the CCAC. “These services better fit the needs of CCAC’s clients,” added Hecimovich. For information about CCAC services available to you, visit Headwaters website (www.headwatershealth.ca) to learn about 310-CCAC.

The Quality Assurance Risk Management Committee reported Headwaters has added a pathology report to the surgical safety checklist (SSCL). The Hospital is committed to increased patient safety and adding pathology to the checklist will ensure Headwaters’ is delivering high quality, safe patient care. As of April 1, all Ontario hospitals are required to use safe-surgery checklists and publicly report compliance indicators beginning July 30, 2010.

The Board approved the Medical Advisory Committee’s motion to appoint Dr. Sukhamay Chatterjee to Chief of the Department of Obstetrics and welcomed Dr. Chatterjee to his new role.
