Beware: Scam Operating
in Community
Orangeville, ON – Headwaters Health Care Foundation
would like to warn our community about a telemarketing scam operating in
the Dufferin-Caledon area. A company that calls itself “Healing Hands
Busy Book” has been contacting local businesses claiming to be
affiliated with Headwaters Health Care Centre. This is false. They are
in no way associated with the Hospital or the Foundation.
The company, operating under the name Number One Books or Healing Hands
Busy Book is a for-profit company operating out of Edmonton, Alberta.
They solicit small businesses asking for financial support through
sponsorship of an activity book. They claim the book will reach sick
children in area hospitals. This is also false. Neither the books nor
funds from these books benefit Headwaters. The company has been banned
from operating in the United States by the Federal Trade Commission.
Hospitals throughout Ontario have issued similar warnings to their
communities.
“Healing Hands Busy Books is in no way associated with Headwaters Health
Care Centre,” says Cholly Boland, President and CEO of Headwaters Health
Care Centre. “Local businesses that would like to support children in
our hospital can make a donation directly to the Foundation so we can
purchase vital medical equipment to help us care for our paediatric
patients.”
Donations can be made by calling 519.941.2702, ext. 2303 or at
