The Cardiac Wellness Program at Headwaters Health Care Centre has
been helping patients recover from heart attacks, angioplasty and bypass
surgery since 1998. To date, over 500 people have graduated from the
program, which provides assessment, education, support and personalized
exercise plans for recovering cardiac patients.
The goal of the program is to reduce the incidence of repeat cardiac
problems and to improve patients' quality of life by providing education
on heart health, smoking cessation, stress management, nutrition,
managing medications, diabetes and physical activity guidelines. An
exercise routine is also developed for each patient keeping their
personal health needs in mind.
