Headwaters Health Care Centre Appoints New Chief of Staff

 

Orangeville, ON – The Board of Directors of Headwaters Health Care Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey L. McKinnon to the position of Chief of Staff. Dr. McKinnon has been a General Internist at the hospital since 1992, and Chief of the Department of Medicine since 2001. Dr. McKinnon replaces Dr. Ron Murphy who has completed his three-year term as Chief of Staff.

 

"We wish to thank Dr. Murphy and acknowledge his significant contribution over the past three years in advancing health care for our community,” said Bob Baynham, President & CEO, Headwaters Health Care Centre. “Dr. Murphy’s commitment to his patients and to our hospital has been evident every day. Many new clinical services to bring care closer to home, including cardiac care, palliative care, and an arthritis clinic, have been introduced with the help of his strong leadership."

 

Dr. McKinnon is a graduate of medicine from the University of Western Ontario. He completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the Victoria Hospital and the University Hospital in London, Ontario. Dr. McKinnon is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

 

Dr. McKinnon is actively involved in physician recruitment for the hospital. A number of General Internists have established practices in our area because of his dedication and effort. He was also instrumental in negotiating the agreement with the Cardiac Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Dr. McKinnon is cross-appointed to the Department of Oncology at Credit Valley Hospital and supervises cancer care at Headwaters.

 

Dr. McKinnon Chairs the hospital’s Medicine, Critical Care Unit, and Ambulatory Care committees, is an active member of the Utilization, Laboratory and Infection Control committees, and is physician advisor to the Cardiac Wellness Program. Dr. McKinnon also lectures at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine.

 

Dr. McKinnon is Vice President of the Medical Staff and has been a member of Headwaters Health Care Centre’s Board of Directors since June 2006. He serves on the Board’s Finance Committee.
