Tragic Passing of Dr. Douglas Wheeler

Orangeville, ON – It is with deep regret that Headwaters Health Care Centre acknowledges the passing of Dr. Douglas Wheeler. 

“For more than twenty years, Dr. Wheeler provided care for many families in the Dundalk and Shelburne communities. He played a key role in overseeing the complex continuing care program at Headwaters’ Shelburne site. His dedication and service made a difference for both our hospital and the community,” said Dr. Jeff McKinnon, Chief of Staff, Headwaters Health Care Centre.

Dr. Wheeler obtained privileges at the Shelburne District Hospital in 1984 and served as the hospital’s Chief of Complex Continuing Care from 1993 to 2002.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Wheeler’s family as they go through this difficult time," said Dr. McKinnon.

Dr. Wheeler passed away on Thursday July 5, 2007. He is survived by his wife Kim, a former Registered Nurse at the Orangeville and Shelburne sites of our hospital, and two children.
