Board Committees

Headwaters Board has four board committees:
  • Audit
  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Quality
Headwaters’ Board Committees provide an opportunity for our members to actively participate in hospital governance.

Becoming a member of a Board Committee will provide you with an opportunity to assist the Board in discharging its responsibility to provide oversight, advice and recommendations to the Hospital’s senior management team.

In your role as a Committee Member you will have the opportunity to influence policies affected by changes in healthcare. Your expertise may be called upon to provide input in developing strategies and recommending policy priorities targeting patient safety, patient care services and fiscal responsibility. As a Committee Member you will also provide oversight to ensure the hospital has effective and ongoing quality monitoring of key indicators of organizational performance and improvement initiatives.

Help shape your future health care through hospital membership

Get to Know Us
Headwaters Health Care Centre has a simple - but powerful - vision: “patient centred, compassionate care in the face of change”. It’s a vision that puts our patients at the heart of what we do and builds on our strong tradition of caring. At the core of our mission is our dedication to improving the quality of life for our community by offering access locally to health care services in a caring, welcoming and professional way”.

You Can Make a Difference
If you have ever considered contributing to the positive evolution of health care in your community, Headwaters Health Care Centre is offering residents an avenue to do just that. Our membership program is designed to encourage greater community participation in the hospital’s ongoing development, as well as to keep those with a keen interest in health care issues up-to-date on hospital happenings.
Headwaters would like its community to be a part of shaping our future health care. Membership offers an opportunity to serve the Hospital and provide a community connection to the Board of Directors. Members have the ability to elect the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting, held each June. As a group that would become
knowledgeable of hospital issues and concerns, membership also provides a talent pool from which to draw future Board and committee members.

Some key membership benefits outlined by the hospital include:
  • Opportunity to serve your local hospital by becoming involved
  • Nominating candidates for the Board
  • Attend Annual General Meeting
  • Electing Board of Directors
  • Voting on by-law changes
  • Appointing auditors
  • Receiving special reports on hospital activities
  • Advance email notice of special events
The hospital charges an annual individual membership fee of $25 per year, spousal (two memberships) is $40 and organization/ business membership is $100. A tax receipt will be issued. This nominal fee ensures dollars intended for health care are not directed to support membership activities.

Membership runs from May 15th to May 14th in the following year. Only those members who have paid their membership fee by May 14th will be able to participate in the voting and election process at that year’s Annual General Meeting.

Your hospital is committed to providing quality care closer to home. Working with our community partners, Headwaters promotes health and delivers excellence in care. We serve a community of more than 100,000 full-time and 10,000 part- time residents in the Dufferin-Caledon region.

Headwaters consults with our communities to define our service needs, and we advocate for those needs to be met with decision-makers, from the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Your support will help ensure that the necessary health services are in place to provide you with the care you need in our community, or as close to home as possible.

Community involvement is key to our growing success.
