Vision,
Mission, Values
Our
vision: Patient centred, compassionate care in the
face of change. It’s a statement that puts the patient at the
centre of what we do and builds upon our strong tradition of caring. It
speaks to our profound commitment to maintain this tradition in the face
of the considerable change that has been facing hospitals and that is
expected to continue
well into the future.
Our mission: We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for our community
by offering access locally to health care services in a caring, welcoming
and professional way. In
creating this statement each word took on importance.
For instance, “quality of life” speaks to the broadening of our
work beyond the usual care for the sick and injured; “access locally”
speaks to our commitment to develop an increasing capacity to provide
services whenever it is feasible and appropriate to do so; “welcoming”
defines the kind of people we want to continue to be.
To realize our
vision and mission we have established and described three core values:

These
are accompanied by an outline of the behaviours that we would expect for
each value. These values are intended to be a message for all of us –
our staff, volunteers and community - about what is important for our
continued success. They are the basis for performance evaluation, recruitment
and our staff recognition program.
